近畿大学英語村E³[e-cube] 一般公開

まもなく近畿大学英語村の一般公開の時期がやってまいりました。

近畿大学英語村は普段近畿大学生と教職員またはその同伴者のみの利用ですが、早春期間と夏休みの期間は一般の方々へも公開しています。
高校生以上ならどなたでも利用できるこの英語村は、一般公開中10代から80代まで幅広い年齢層の方々とお茶でも飲みながら英語で“チャット”（世間話）を楽しんだり、毎日テーマに沿った“アクティビティー”(文化教室)に参加したりと使い方は皆さんそれぞれ！！

今回のアクティビティーテーマは
月曜日：九州＆沖縄
火曜日：ポップカルチャー＆テクノロジー
水曜日：旅行
木曜日：アート&クラフト
金曜日：料理

このアクティビティーは毎日午後1時から開催しており参加費はもちろん無料！！

Christmas Charity Dinner

Hello all

On December 14th we had our annual Christmas Charity Dinner.
Here in E3 we all enjoyed a traditional Christmas dinner of delicious turkey, ham, egg nog, Christmas cake and so on. About 200 lucky Kinki university students, staff and teachers all enjoyed delicious and authentic Christmas food together.

This Christmas Charity Dinner was free but we asked all who attended to donate some money to UNICEF for people who are suffering from poverty and disease. This year we could raise 78,845yen. We appreciate your warm support.

みなさんこんにちは。

早いもので今週から12月に入ります。英語村はクリスマス一色にデコレーションされます。
アクティビティーやイベントもクリスマスをテーマに行います。

12月のイベントは、クリスマスチャリティーアートマーケットとクリスマスディナーです。
アートマーケットとは、近畿大学の学生の手作りの作品を鑑賞したり買ったりできるフリーマーケットのような2日間限定のイベントです。女子学生に人気の雑貨やアクセサリー、ガラス製品のコップやセラミックのお皿、写真、絵はがき等、多彩なアート作品をお楽しみいただけます。

14日水曜日に開催される毎年恒例のクリスマスディナーは、200名限定で本場欧米のクリスマスフードと雰囲気をお楽しみいただけます。今週の12月1日木曜日午前10時からチケットの予約を受け付けます。毎年人気のイベントですのでお早目のご予約お待ちしております。
また欧米では、クリスマスはチャリティー精神について学ぶ時期でもあります。UNICEFコーナーもありますので、本場欧米式の“クリスマスチャリティーディナー”を一緒に楽しみましょう。

December is already upon us. This means e-cube will bring the Christmas spirit to Kindai with Christmas themed activities and events! December’s events include the annual Christmas Charity Art Market and Christmas Dinner.

The Art Market is a 2 day flea market consisting of handmade artworks done by Kinki University students. Please stop by to look at and, if you like, buy some works of art! You can enjoy various everyday items, accessories, glass cups, ceramic dishes, photography, postcards and more!

This year’s annual Christmas Dinner will be held on December 14th (Wednesday).
200 lucky people will get the chance to experience the atmosphere of a Western Christmas while eating an authentic Christmas meal. We will start taking reservations at 10:00am on December 1st (Thursday). This is a very popular event, so please make your reservations early!
Also, this is a good opportunity to learn about the spirit of charity and giving a little to those in need. We will have a UNICEF table set up for this purpose. Let’s enjoy a real Christmas Charity Dinner together!

みなさんこんにちは。

先月の英語村5周年パーティーはお楽しみいただけました？600名分のお昼のバーベキューもすぐになくなり、またディーナーもビンゴゲームやキャンドルデコレーション等5周年にふさわしい大盛況のパーティーとなりました。
お越しいただいた皆様どうもありがとうございました。

さて、今月の英語村は「世界の食べ物＆料理」をテーマにアクティビティーやイベントを企画しています。
今週17日木曜日のイベントは「食博」です。　大阪心斎橋にあるタイレストランの『クンテープ』が英語村に屋台を出店、またミャンマー、タイ、ドイツからのゲストをお招きしたアクティビティーが行われます。

25日金曜日は「ホットドッグコンテスト」が行われます。今回は大食いに挑戦しない皆様も、クイズに正解すると！？！？

また英語村カフェでは期間限定の「シェパードパイ　200円」「ラザニア　300円」「ケーキ各種　250円」等この時期のみの限定フードで皆様の食欲の秋を満たします！

This month at E³, we are going to have a World Food Festival, Hot Dog Eating Contest and many other food activities.

For the World Food Festival, held this Thursday (November 17th), we will welcome Shinsaibashi’s famous Thai restaurant ‘Krungtep’.
You can try tasty and spicy Thai food at a special price!!
Also, there will be special guest speakers coming from Myanmar, Thailand and Germany. Please join these activities too.

The Hot Dog Eating Contest is on November 25th (Friday). Don’t miss seeing who this year’s champion is.

The E³ café is waiting to serve you with their limited autumn and winter specials, which are Lasagna, Shepherd's pie and several kinds of cakes.

みなさんこんにちは。

今月近畿大学英語村では多くのイベントが開催され、たくさんの学生さんが英語村を訪れ楽しんでくれました。　ですがもう１つ忘れてはならない大きなイベントが今週の金曜日に開催されます！

近畿大学英語村は2006年10月30日に開村して今月で丸5年目を迎えます。これを記念しまして10月28日金曜日のお昼の12時20分から英語村前の広場でバーベキュー、また午後6時から7時半まではカクテルパーティーを開催します。
バーベキューは600名先着順になりますのでお早めにお越しください。
またカクテルパーティーは事前予約が必要ですので今週中に英語村で予約をしてチケットをお受け取りください。こちらは250名分のご用意で残り100名程ですのでお急ぎください！！

このイベントは毎年開催されるものではなく、５周年の節目のビックイベントです！！
ぜひ多くの方々に参加いただきたいと思っておりますので、今まで英語村をあまり利用しなかった学生も、ぜひご参加ください。

This month Kinki University’s E³ has been holding many events and a lot of students came to join and enjoyed them with us. But, we have our final big event this Friday that you can’t miss!!

We will commemorate E³’s 5th anniversary and to celebrate we are going to have a BBQ at lunch time and also a cocktail party in the evening.
Both events are free but there is a limit to the number of guests. For the BBQ it is 600 and for the cocktail party it is 250 but you need to reserve a ticket in advance.

We welcome anyone from Kindai, staff or students and especially those who don’t come to E³ often. Please don’t miss your chance!!

みなさん、Welcome back to school!!　夏休みはいかがでしたか？？

さて、９月と１０月の英語村はたくさんのイベントやみなさんの大好きなハロウィンのアクティビティー等楽しいことが盛りだくさんです。

まず１０月１７日までのアクティビティーテーマは「色々な職業や就職について」です。
この期間のアクティビティーは、色々な仕事について学べるだけでなく、近畿大学の先生による英語での履歴書の書き方、面接について等、就職活動をがんばっている近畿大学生を応援するものがいっぱいです！！

また、この期間中には色々な業種のゲストスピーカーをお招きしての講演会も行います。

憧れの職業についている方々から直接お話しが聞けたり質問できる機会です。　イベント前に随時ブログで詳細をアップしますのでぜひチェックしてお見逃しなく！！

１０月１８日から２７日まではハロウィンをテーマにしたアクティビティーを行い
ます。
２１日の金曜日にはハロウィンコスチュームコンテストのイベントもあります。

あまり日本ではポピュラーではないハロウィンですが、英語村でみんなで楽しみましょう。

E-cube will have many fun activities and events this and next month (September and October), such as our very popular Halloween season activities.

First, our activity theme until October 17th will be Jobs and Careers. The activities during this period will teach you about: different jobs, how to write a resume and do interviews in English, and other topics to assist Kinki University students trying to find a job.

Also, we will have guest speakers introducing various fields of work.

This is a great opportunity for you all to speak and ask questions directly to professionals doing your dream job. Please do not forget to check this blog again for all the details before the events.

Halloween will be our theme from October 18th to the 27th. On Friday, October 21st, we will hold our annual Halloween Costume Contest. We encourage everyone to be creative when making or buying their costumes. There will be prizes for the best ones!

Halloween may not be very popular in Japan, but we all love it here at E-cube!

今日から６月に入りました。雨ばかりですっきりしない日が続いていますがみなさんいかがお過ごしですか？
先週のアートマーケットは楽しんでいただけましたか？

さて、英語村のアクティビティーは毎月テーマを持って行っているのですが、皆さん６月のアクティビティーテーマはご存知ですか？　それは“サイエンス”です。
“サイエンス”と聞いてとっつきにくいと思った方も多いかもしれませんが、実は去年のアクティビティー参加人数はこのサイエンスをテーマにした月がダントツで多かったのです！
サイエンスのアクティビティーは私たちにとって、とても身近な環境について、動物、私たちの体や実験、物作りと、英語村アクティビティーの魅力が満載に詰まったものばかりなのです！！

そして今年は近畿大学の先生方や学生さんにも特別にアクティビティーをしていただきます。最近テレビでよく見かけるようなおもしろい実験等が盛りだくさんです。

理系・文系問わず多くの方々の参加をお待ちしています！！

How’s everything going for the new school year? Hope you are all well.

This month’s activity theme is “Science”. We are going to do many kinds of interesting activities about the environment, the human body, animals and maybe even a few explosions!?!?

We also have some special guests who will be presenting activities this month. They will be Professor Kimura who will be doing a science show. Professor Eto will be displaying the world’s fastest high speed camera which he developed. Also 1st year student Mori, who will be teaching us all about robot programming. You will be able to enjoy fun, exciting and also educational activities!!

E³ will hold one of our favorite events soon. The Art & Craft Market will open from 10am to 5pm on Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th. You can buy and view hand made accessories, pots and dishes, post cards, photos and drawings and much more with everything made or taken by Kinki University students.
Please come along and enjoy arts with us.

Hello everyone and for new students, welcome to Kinki University!!

I would like to give you a little introduction about E-cube.

We are open to Kinki University students, teachers and staff from 10am to 6pm weekdays. You can try delicious American style food from the café, you can read latest fashion magazines and comics, you can practice guitar or even be a DJ on the turn table. If you are feeling sporty why not try a little basketball. Also, we have just bought a new Nintendo Wii so come along and challenge the staff to a game!!

We have various activities including cooking, sports, art and cultural activities everyday during 3rd (1:20~2:00), 4th(3:00~3:40) and 5th periods(4:40~5:20).

We often hold exciting events too. Usually, they are held about once a month and we have even had some famous celebrities visit E-cube!! Come and take a look at our pictures to see who has been here.

So, you can relax, meet new people and make friends and have lots of fun but ALL IN ENGLISH!!

We are looking forward to seeing you all.

今日は皆さんに少しだけ「英語村　イーキューブ」について紹介したいと思います。

私たちイーキューブは平日の午前10時から午後6時までオープンしています。ここにはアメリカンスタイルのハンバーガーやピザのあるカフェで食事をしたり、最新の雑誌・漫画を読んだり、バスケットボールをしたり、ＤＪに挑戦したり、最近買った任天堂Wiiでネイティブスタッフと遊んだりできます！！

英語村では毎日3限目（1:20～2:00）4限目（3:00～3:40）5限目（4:40～5:20）に“アクティビティー”も開催しています。　料理、スポーツ、アートや世界の文化など興味のあるアクティビティーにぜひ参加してみてください。

月に1回ほどマンスリーイベントも開催しています。世界的に有名な人が来ることもありますので、英語村のアクティビティースケジュールやポスターはぜひチェックしてみてくださいね。

アクティビティーやイベントには参加しなくても、授業の合間にリラックスするのももちろん大歓迎！！　皆さんのお越しをお待ちしています。

さて、まもなく英語村では一般公開を開始いたします。近畿大学の英語村は夏休みと2月中旬から3月の間、高校生以上ならどなたでも無料で参加していただけます。
今回の一般開放期間は、

月曜日から金曜日の10：00～16：00
毎日13：00～13：40まで、アクティビティー（ミニ教室）も行います。

2010 Charity Christmas Dinner

Last night, we had our annual Charity Christmas Dinner. About 200 people enjoyed a traditional Christmas dinner including turkey, honey baked ham, mashed potatoes, Christmas pudding and even eggnog.

We hold this event to let everyone know that Christmas is not just for couples but also a time to share with friends, for charity and for giving. Every year we ask guests to contribute some money for UNICEF. Thanks to everyone’s charity and generosity we were able to raise more than \107,000 this year.
Thank you so much everyone who contributed.

We are looking forward to holding this event again next year and hope to see you there!!

Art Market and Dessert Buffet

This week we had 2 fun events in E³. One was the annual Christmas Charity Art Market on Mon and Tue. 1335 people came to the event over 2 days and \5,183 was donated by students’ stands for UNICEF.
We will hold the Art Market again next year so if you missed this time, please come along. For those who enjoyed this year’s Art Market we hope to see you next year again.

We also had a Dessert Buffet on Wednesday at lunch time. About 40 students ate all the delicious sweets they could for only \500. The Buffet included cheese cake, tiramisu, apple pie, pizza and much much more.

December is here!! Merry Christmas to you all!!

Yesterday, we had special volunteer guest speakers from OFIX (Osaka Foundation of International Exchange), coming from Thailand, Brazil, England and India.

They introduced us to their countries, food, language and even dance!!

We also had a Thai restaurant at E₃. The Thai restaurant Krungtep is quite famous in Osaka. They served us very delicious Thai food, such as Pad Thai and barbeque chicken. Students, staff and teachers all enjoyed the tasty Thai food and other world cuisines and cultures!!

There is one more thing to inform you of. We will have our annual Christmas Charity Art Market next week.
The Christmas Charity Art Market was started to raise money for UNICEF. Kinki University students will sell their hand-made arts and crafts, so please come and find some very cheap, but good quality things.

This event is open to the public so we welcome you all anyone who is high school age or over.

Hot Dog Eating Contest

Last Friday, we had a Hot Dog Eating Contest. 11 boys entered the contest this year and they managed to eat about 100 hot dogs in 10min!!!

This year’s champion was Shinnosuke and he ate 13 hot dogs.

He is now a true legend of E³’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. He has been the champion for 4 consecutive years. In 4 years, he has eaten about 45 hot dogs!!

Shinnosuke will graduate from Kinki University next year so this was his last Hot Dog Contest. The only students who will be able to beat Shinnosuke’s record are pharmacy students or postgraduate students.

So please enter next year’s contest and see if you can match or even break Shinnosuke’s Hot Dog record!!

Costume Contest

Did you have fun this Halloween weekend?

Last Friday we had a Halloween Costume Contest and a DJ club night in the evening.

For the costume contest, 8 groups gave us a great performance in their gorgeous costumes. One of the groups received ￥30,000 for winning first prize.

At the DJ club night, students enjoyed music and dancing.

This Friday, we are having 2 events.

At lunch time, we are going to have a Halloween Costume contest. We will also celebrate E³’s 4th anniversary. At the event, you can have a lot of free sweets and even birthday cake!!

In the evening, we will hold the DJ-club night. This happens only once a year!! The DJ-club night will be from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

E-cube Zoo

Last Wednesday we had a zoo event in E-cube. Many cute, interesting and unique animals, including kangaroos, a penguin, a tortoise, an emu and alpacas were here.

About 1600 people enjoyed touching, feeding and hugging the animals.

We hope to have this event again in the near future!!

近畿大学英語村では8月2日(月)～9月15日(水）までの
月曜日から金曜日10：00～16：00の間、
一般公開をします。
(8月9日～20日の一斉休暇を除く)

毎日13時からは、クッキングや奈良のこと、地球に優しいことまで学ぶ“アクティビティー”もしています。

入村料・参加費などはありませんが、高校生以上のみ利用していただけます。

普段は近畿大学の学生・教職員のみ利用可能な英語村、この一般公開の機会にぜひ遊びに来てください☆☆

Charity Dance Showcase

Last Friday at lunchtime we had a Charity Dance Showcase!! It was a charity event　with the money raised going to UNICEF. 7 dance teams joined in the showcase with about 100 dancers in all!! They put on a very cool performance for the event that was enjoyed by the many people watching the event.
We were all impressed. Thank you to all the dancers who did a great job!!

先週金曜日のランチタイム、英語村は大勢のダンサーと観客で埋め尽くされていました！！　約100人のダンスサークルの学生がチャリティーダンスイベントに参加してくれました。
7チームすべて、ものすごくかっこいいダンスでした。

UNICEFチャリティーに参加してくれた学生さんもご協力ありがとうございました。

Tuna event & Art Market for this month

Did you guys have a nice holiday??

Last month, we had our first event for 2010, Kinki University & Biodiversity!! About 1500 people came to this event. We had a lecture by Professor. Sawada from Kinki University’s Fisheries Laboratory. We also ran 6 different activities all based on biodiversity and best of all, was the Kindai tuna tasting!! It was very delicious tuna. We hope everyone who came along to this event enjoyed it

This month we are going to have an Art & Craft Market. Everything sold is made by Kinki students. Please come and take a look!!

Hello everyone.

First of all, we had a gardening activity a few days ago. Matthew and some students planted vegetables including sweet corn, cherry tomatoes, capsicum and egg plant. We all look forward to harvesting our vegetables!!

Secondly, we had our 300,000th visitor on Apr 13th!! It was a memorable day!!
The lucky guy was a Kinki University 1st year student. We are going to present him with a special prize at the event on Apr 23rd.

At the special event, the world famous KINDAI TUNA is going to be provided free for 500 participants.

We will have a guest speaker to talk about Kinki’s tuna growing process.

先日英語村では、3年5か月にして30万人の入場者数を突破いたしました！！
当日、朝から私たちスタッフはクラッカーや風船を準備しお祝いムード。記念すべき30万人目の入村者となったのは近畿大学経営学部の新1年生でした。
4月23日（金）のイベントの日に30万人目入村者のお祝いも行う予定です。

今回のイベントでは英語村に近大マグロが登場！！500食限定の試食も用意します。

近大マグロ以外にも６つのアクティビィティーを行う予定です。クッキングやチョコレートの食べ比べ、キャンドル作りなど楽しいアクティビティーが盛り沢山！！！ぜひ遊びに来てくださいね☆

みなさんこんにちは。まだまだ寒い日が続いていますね。

先日近畿大学では、卒業式が行われました。今回卒業の学生が1年生のとき、この英語村はオープンし沢山の学生に来ていただきました。英語村も今では入場者数30万人突破を目前にしています。

今回卒業した学生たちも、社会で大いに活躍し、また一般公開のときに遊びに来てくださいね！！

3月21日に行われた近畿大学のオープンキャンパスの日も、英語村内は非常にたくさんの方々で賑わいました。この日のアクティビティーは4種類も行われスタッフは準備に追われましたが、参加してくださった皆さんは楽しんでいただけましたか？？
また７月のオープンキャンパスでお会いできるのを楽しみにしています。
今度のアクティビティーもお楽しみに:D

Hello there!!

Two weeks ago, we had a graduation ceremony and Open Campus.

On graduation day, many 4th year students and their parents visited E³ to say goodbye to us.
Some students were excited about the future, some students were looking forward to going abroad and some students even cried･･･
Good luck to all of you!!

We also had many high school students on Open Campus day. They enjoyed our activities, eating Western style food, playing the guitar, reading English magazines and talking to us.
We are all looking forward to seeing you again at Kinki University!!

Spanish Omelet

Hello everyone!! How have you been!?
It’s getting warm nowadays. Spring is just around the corner

Today, we cooked a Spanish Omelet for our activity!!! It was not only delicious, but also easy to cook!! During the activity, while waiting for the omelet to cook, we took a look at Spanish restaurants in the Kansai area. Did everyone who had Dorian & Tomoka’s omelet enjoy it??

We also did some gardening work, with the help of the public members who came today. When the weather gets warmer, will plant some herbs and vegetables. You are always welcome to have a look at our garden and/or put your green thumb to work.

Christmas Dinner

On December 17th, we had our annual Christmas Dinner.

The Christmas Dinner was a charity event for UNICEF. We were able to raise 56,699 yen so thank you to everyone who contributed.

We had a delicious traditional Christmas dinner that everyone looked like they really enjoyed. For me, it was the honey baked ham, apple pie and eggnog that were most delicious.

Following the dinner, Professor Kanel treated us to a very entertaining Christmas carol sing along. It was lots of fun and I hope that everyone enjoyed the chance to sing along in English.

We also had Santa who put in a special appearance. He gave everyone a present as they left the dinner. The presents were for the secret Santa and I hope that everyone was happy with the presents that Santa gave them.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made the Christmas dinner a success. For those who couldn’t make it, remember the Christmas dinner is held every December so please try and come along next year.

Tomorrow is our annual Christmas Dinner. The dinner will be from 6:15pm to 8:00pm at E-cube. This year’s menu consists of:

The dinner is free for those who made a reservation at the beginning of December. But, we hope that everyone that comes will make a donation to UNICEF. Members from UNICEF will be at the dinner to sell goods and take donations.

We will be having a “Secret Santa” event. What is that? This is an event in which someone brings a gift, 500yen or less, and receives a ticket. At the end of the evening, the ticket is returned and the person receives a gift that someone else brought. Sounds fun, doesn’t it?

We are asking those attending the dinner to dress up a bit. Please don’t wear blue jeans or sneakers. Do try to wear something red.

Christmas Charity Art Market

Hello everyone.
We had the Christmas Charity Art Market for UNICEF last Monday and Tuesday.

We all had a good time!!! There are about 8 stalls and they were selling all sorts of art and crafts including ceramic plates, cups, post cards, and accessories. We were also displaying art work and photos from Kinki students.

There were lots of wonderful things for sale. Everything sold was made by Kinki students and the best thing was that everything was really cheap!! Being a charity art market 5% of all proceeds were donated to UNICEF. Thank you to everyone who come along and purchased something from the art market.

Yesterday Nick was making Christmas stockings for the afternoon activity. It was very popular with lots of students here to make a stocking to keep their Christmas candy in.

Don’t forget we have Christmas activities for the rest of the month so please come in and try one or two. Today, you can sit down and relax with Jill and enjoy her ‘Christmas Movies’ activities.

Monday, we had a special guest from New York!!!
His name was Sean Lennon, as you may know.

The event at E³ was wonderful. So many students and members of the public had a great time listening to his brilliant music.

After singing, students asked some questions to Sean and he talked about his life, his music, his family and his childhood.
He was a very friendly guy and it was wonderful to see someone so famous yet so down to earth.

It was a really interesting day and all of staff at E3 thoroughly enjoyed it. We hope that everyone who came along enjoyed it too.

Dessert Buffet and Mongolian Khuushuur

Sorry it’s been a while but we are back!!!!
Hope everyone is well. We are all good here at E³.

We had a fun day yesterday with Dessert Buffet and Julia’s delicious Mongolian Khuushuur.

E³ café held the 1st ever Dessert Buffet. It was only 500yen for all you can eat sweets, cake and even pizza. 30 lucky students had one hour to enjoy lots and lots of beautiful desserts. Everyone was very full :D! You can see some pictures.

It was a successful 1st Dessert Buffet and café may do another one very soon.
If you like sweets, please try and come along next time.

Continuing on food, E³ was full of the delicious smells of cooking lamb.
Julia’s activity was Khuushuur which is a Mongolian lamb fried dumpling.
All of Julia’s students enjoyed her entertaining activity but the taste of her cooking was even better. Good job Julia!!

Today’s activity will be some Korean Jeon. Kanako is going to teach us all about Korean food and Jeon, which is Kimchi chijimi. I hope she can cook…

Finally, we are all getting excited about Monday’s special guest, Sean Lennon!!!!
All seating tickets are gone but everybody remember that you can still come to enjoy the performance – a lot of standing room is available.

久しぶりの日本語でのブログ更新です。
今月のアクティビティーのテーマは「日本」。

初日のこの日は、生け花をしました。
先生は、1回生のKen。彼は、18歳にして免許皆伝の腕前です。

生け花の歴史や生け方の基本を説明してから実際に皆で花を生けてみました。

約100人の学生が3回にわたって参加しました。

今もお花は飾ってあります。見に来て下さいね。

Last Thursday and Friday, Kinki University Students Association held 2 dance events here at E-cube.
Thursday lunch time was a dance show and on Friday night, we had a dance party.

Both events were charity events to raise money for Japan STOP AIDS Fund.

Thank you to everyone who came and those who donated.

Also Thank you very much to all of the dancers who took parts in the events.

Science Month Event & Activity

Yesterday we were fortunate enough to have Professor Ida explain about `Bio Coke,` a form of coal made out of bio mass. Everyday items we throw away, for example, coffee grinds, used tea leaves, etc. can be turned into `Bio Coke.` Over sixty students observed the presentation.

Thank you, Prof. Ida!!!

And today, we had a Coke & Mentos Explosion Activity.
It was the most popular activity in E-cube history.
250 people showed up!!!! :)

Mr Eto's High Speed Camera

Hello all,
Its been a while but we are back.
Just want to let you know about our exciting activities for June. Our theme this month is science and astronomy.
On Friday we had Professor Eto come along to E cube and give us a demonstration of his amazing high speed camera. He explained all about it to us and then we even got to see some amazing demonstrations! Seeing a water balloon bounce or burst in very very slow motion was really interesting. Lots of students came along to enjoy the activity so it was a great Friday.
Thank you very much to Professor Eto and his team for taking up their time to come and do the activity for us!!

We have another Professor coming along tomorrow to do another activity for us. It will be Professor. Ida and he is going to talk about his product, Bio Coke. 5月になりましたね！
英語村の4月は凄かったです。一日に平均1000人を超える！！！学生さんに遊びに来てもらいました。
ジェンガに燃えるひと、人生ゲームに没頭する人、チュロスを毎日買いに来る人、アクティビティーに参加する人、パスポートを取りに来る人、バスケットボールをするのに、朝からドアの前で待ってる人、ギターを弾きに来る人、NARUTOを読みに来る人（昨日、最新刊まで揃いました★）、そして、スタッフに会いに来る人、人人人。気は付いてないかもしれませんが、英語が確実にうまくなっていますよ！

ゴールデンウィークに突入して、6日まで英語村もお休みです。
7日からまた、10時に開くので、また、遊びに来て下さいね！

ちなみに英語村の5月のテーマはアートです。
毎日のアクティビティーもモノを作ったり、絵を描いたり、食べたり(笑)アートにちなんだものがいっぱいです。
３、４、５限目の10分後からアクティビティーは始まります。
そして！5月25日、26日は、アート・クラフトマーケットが開催されます。
かわいい、アクセなんかがいっぱい！　近大生ってすごい！と思っちゃいますよ！

ビリーズブートキャンプ　in 近畿大学英語村を開催

オープン後、2年半で利用者20万人を突破した英語村Ｅ^３[e-cube]で、4月10日、ビリーズブートキャンプの考案者・ビリーブランクス氏が200人とともに汗を流しました。

「身体を動かしながら、身体に関する英語を"体感"してもらうのが今回のイベントの趣旨。「遊びながら英語を楽しく学ぶ」英語村のコンセプトにマッチしました。
新入生も集う春のキャンパスに、明るく楽しい英語レッスン「ビリーズブートキャンプ　in 近畿大学英語村」が開催され、事前に入隊申し込みをした学生200人と、観覧の学生約500人が集いました。

ビリーさんはイベント終了後、「若者の存在は未来そのもの」と学生との記念撮影やサイン、握手にも気軽に応じ、英語を通じて触れ合いました。
また、「体を動かすことは食事を取ることと同じぐらい大事なこと。1日10分でも続けてほしい」と呼びかけました。

E-cube's Veggie Patch

Today, we started E-cube's vegetable & herb garden. We planted beans, cucumbers, many kinds of peppers and herbs.

We will watch them grow and use them for cooking activity.

Coming soon, we are going to plant totatoes, corn and much more.

Pleo's arrival

Hello Everyone,
We've got some exciting news to report from E cube this morning! Yesterday, our new pet arrived! His name is Pleo and you can see a short video of him. He's a baby boy and he is a Camarasaurus. He is our new living, seeing, and learning pet dinosaur. At the moment his name is Pleo but we want to give him a new original name. We have started a naming contest and if you have any suggestions please email us at eigomura@gmail.com. He is looking for new friends so please come and meet him soon.
Also yesterday, the afternoon activity was drumming! We had a fun and noisy afternoon. The teacher was Danny and he taught everyone all about the basics of drumming. Any volunteers who wanted to play could then have a go. It looks like we have a few wanna be rockstars at E cube!
Today's activity is all about Japan and Mayuko will be taking it. She is going to talk about Kyoto, but, of course it will be in English. Most Japanese people love to talk about Kyoto but can you do it in English? If anyone is interested please come along at 1.00 this afternoon.
